Dear orchestra members & friends,
What strange times we’re living in, and I hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well, and managing to keep busy and fed in spite of all the restrictions. I expect you’re all missing orchestra rehearsals as much as I am, and looking forward to the time when we can return to some sort of normality. In the meantime, Ken has come up with the great idea of hosting a “Virtual Tea Break” on the Zoom conferencing app on Thursday evenings at 7.30, and details will be sent out soon by email.
Concert planning is obviously tricky at the moment, but we’re hoping to be able to manage a concert towards the end of the year. The Lymington concert has been cancelled, and we hope to be able to re-book the venue for our first concert next year. For now, the Milford on Sea concert planned for 17th October has been left in place, but with the possibility of being delayed into November (the 21st is currently available). Things will very much depend on when we’ll be able to re-start rehearsals safely, but whenever the next concert is, we will be playing the music we have already started preparing for the Lymington concert, so please keep on practicing the pieces as best you can on your own.
The committee all felt that inviting Michelle Jeffrey from the Society of St James to be at the concert to raise funds worked really well. They raised over £200 for their charity, and we hope to be able to support a local charity in all our future concerts.
Best wishes to you all, and hope to see you at the virtual tea break.
